3M Stikit Paper Disc Roll 236U offers a versatile disc with a convenient adhesive backing ready for quick and easy attachment to a 3M Stikit backup pad (sold separately). The roll offers quick access to a disc and eliminates disc liners. The disc features a strong, C-weight paper backing that resists wear during aggressive sanding.

The 3M™ Stikit™ Paper Disc Roll 236U discs offer aggressive cut and long life on a premium aluminum oxide disc with a durable edge and convenient Stikit adhesive backing. A go-to product in many industrial operations, these durable discs are well suited for high production sanding operations as well as general purpose applications on paint, primer, wood, metal, plastic, and composites, including fiberglass. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, the strong C-weight paper backing resists tearing and edgewear during aggressive sanding, and the discs are resin-bonded for heat-resistance, further increasing life and cut. These discs also feature an open coat and a load-resistant coating to enhance dust management and cut-rate.

A load-resistant coating allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints, and other materials that would, otherwise, clog the surface of the disc and hinder sanding ability. Loading is further reduced by an open coat, which means the abrasive grains are spaced slightly apart so that dust can escape rather than obstructing the cutting edge of the grains, thereby optimizing cut-rate and disc life.

Sanding discs come in a variety of forms to fit various power tools and disc pads. 3M™ Stikit™ Discs are designed to handle a wide range of sanding and finishing needs. 3M Soft Interface Disc Pad is constructed of ½ inch soft density foam with a 3M Clean Sanding hole pattern to allow dust extraction and minimize loading during sanding. The soft foam construction enables the pad to conform to edges and contours, making it a good match for sensitive workpieces where gouging and marring is a top concern.

The 3M&#8482 Clean Sanding Soft Interface Disc Pad 20278 is constructed of 1/2″ soft density foam with a 3M Clean Sanding hole pattern to add conformability to a 5″ Clean Sanding Hookit&#8482 backup pad &#40sold separately&#41. The soft interface disc pad provides a greater cushion and more conformability than does one with medium density foam. Use this pad to reduce edge cutting when the pad is tipped on edge and maintain closer contact with the edge while maximizing dust extraction. The pad contains a series of uniquely designed holes and channels which allow dust to be pulled through the holes and away from the sanding surface. This improves the work environment and prolongs disc life.

3M’s Clean Sanding dust-management system evacuates dust from the work surface better than 5- or 6-hole products, dramatically increasing disc life and maximizing cut-rate. Optimized with a self-generated vacuum sanding tool fitted with a Clean Sanding filter bag &#40sold separately&#41, Clean Sanding products allow the vacuum to suction dust from the air and off of the workpiece. This reduces loading of the disc and adds life to the abrasive. Additionally, reducing dust in the air improves working conditions. The box includes one 6″ 3M Stikit Low Profile Disc Pad 20354 recommended for flat sanding operations, for use with 6″ Stikit discs (sold separately). This versatile sander also works with 3M™ Hookit™ disc pads, enabling operators to use Scotch-Brite™ discs in addition to coated abrasive discs.

Using Your Pneumatic Sander
This tool is intended to be operated as a handheld tool and is air-powered. It requires an air compressor that will provide a clean lubricated air supply with an airflow rate of 17 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM), or 481 liters per minute (LPM), and 90 pounds per square inch (psi) at the tool, i.e. the point where the air hose is connected to the tool, when the tool is running with the level fully depressed. Recommended is an approved 3/8 inch (10 mm) airline at the minimum length required for the application, with a maximum length of 25 feet (8 m).
