This 010149 Zero Periscope is specifically designed for use in situations where the dryer Outlet overlaps or is very close to the wall Outlet. The 2 inch by 6 inch smooth aluminum construction telescopes to handle outlets up to 5 inches distance from center to center. The 4 inch diameter draw band collar synchs down over the clothes dryer vent i.e.. The 4 inch diameter crimped fitting slides into most wall ies. Once installed, it needs only 2.5 inches clearance behind the dryer. If your outlets are very close and you need to move the dryer closer to the wall, this vent maintains critical airflow and provides all metal performance. Clothes dryer manufacturers specify “only rigid or flexible metal vent shall be used for exhausting. Do not use plastic or metal foil vent.” installation instructions are included inside each carton. The MV-90 is designed for when the vent path takes a 90 degree turn, such as down through the floor, up through the ceiling, or off to the side. -The MV-90 can handle offsets up to 3 inches from center to center. The more accurately you line up the MV-90 with the vent on the back of your dryer, the better the vent path and the further back you can locate your dryer. Normally, the MV-90 requires 5 1/2 inches of clearance behind the dryer. If an obstruction necessitates you locate the MV-90 at the maximum 3 inch offset, then your dryer will need to sit out an additional 3 inches to allow for a bend radius in the transition duct. -Close vent offsets between dryer and wall vent located on same wall as dryer (Offsets between 6-9 inches): The MV-90 can be coupled directly to a standard 4 inch diameter, adjustable, 90 degree elbow which creates a 9 inch offset. See photo below. If your same wall offset is 6 inches, you can use the MV-90 and an elbow, taking advantage of its ability to handle misalignment up to 3 inches. -Same wall offsets greater than 9 inches: Simply mount the MV-90 directly behind your dryer, plug the 90 degree elbow into the wall vent, and measure for the required length of rigid metal pipe between them. Make sure to measure from where the pipe will stop on the MV-90 to the stop on the male end of the rigid metal pipe. -Close vent offsets between dryer and wall vent located on same wall as dryer (Offsets between 0-3 inches): If your same wall offset is between 0 and 3 inches, then the MV-180 is the product for you.

This item is designed to fit between the studs inside the wall. It does a great job of carrying the exhaust air through the top plate and into attic/floor space. You should use the 4″ aluminum vent to complete the run to the outside. This dryer vent rough-in system has (3) 2-1/2″ clearance telescoping sections that extend from 29″ to 77″. It also has one male snap-lock fitting, one female snap-lock collar and mounting strap, as well as all-metal rigid construction that meets most in-wall codes.
