Utilizing a real-time analyzer and pink noise, he would graph out the acoustical characteristics of each car he tested. Jim discovered three problems that were common to all cars: a midbass hump between 100-275Hz, a steep roll-off of high frequencies from 2kHz up to 20kHz, and reduced bass response below 50Hz.
